The Diversity and Community Advocacy Initiative

Clarity Clinic NWI is committed to addressing social injustice within our clinic, community, and industry. We recognize that economic inequality, discrimination, and other social justice issues have profound impacts on mental health and access to support. As a result, we have created the Diversity and Community Advocacy Initiative. The mission of this initiative is to disseminate educational resources, internally and externally, to raise awareness of the issues impacting clients and start conversations about mental health within our community: NWI. To achieve this, we have created the following Plan of Action.

Plan of Action:

Educate ourselves

The first step in addressing unconscious bias is education. The initiative will work to provide resources for our staff and providers that will help keep us accountable and informed about topics that are often left out in conversations.

Raise Awareness and connect with our community

The initiative will work with community groups to raise awareness of the impact inequality has on one’s mental health. Through presentations and conversations, the Diversity and Community Advocacy Initiative will gain valuable insight from the community on how we can better serve it. In return, the initiative will gather practical resources that will help community members connect with local mental health services, start conversations about mental health, and reduce stigma surrounding mental health.

Create a more inclusive clinic

We believe every individual should feel valued, supported, and accepted within our clinic. The initiative will work to identify areas of inaccessibility within the clinic, and find ways to create a more inclusive experience for our clients.
